Wholesome Wheat (Atta)Cake

A cake made with whole wheat flour and brown sugar

  • Oven temp: 350 F- 180 C
  • Atta (Whole wheat) 2 cups (400 g)
  • Gur ki shakkar (or Brown Sugar) 2 cups (450 g)
  • Baking powder 2   tsp
  • Dalchini (Cinnamon) powder   tsp
  • Jaiphal (Nutmeg) powder tsp
  • Oil   cup (125 g)
  • Water   cup
  • Eggs 4
  • Vanilla essence   tsp
  • walnuts to garnish (optional)
  • 2 baking tins 8-9 round


  • Grease the tins and dust with atta.
  • Place the atta, shakkar, soda, baking powder, dalchini, jaiphal, oil and water in a bowl and beat smooth.

  • Add the eggs and vanilla essence and beat till smooth again.

  • Divide the mixture into the tins, and bake in the pre-heated oven for 35-40 mins.
