Khatte Meethe Aloo (Vrat)

  • Potatoes, par-boiled, peeled and chopped 1/2 kg
  • Ghee (Clarified butter) 1/4 cup (60 g)
  • Zeera (cummin seeds) 1 tsp
  • Sendha namak (rock salt) 2 tsp
  • Chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar 2 tbsp, or to taste
  • Lemon juice 2 tbsp, or to taste


  • Heat ghee, add zeera, when it splutters, add potatoes and stir fry.
  • When potatoes become a light brown, add salt, chilli powder and sugar.

  • Continue to stir fry till well blended. Take it off the heat, add lemon juice and serve.
