Bread Upma

A snack made out of leftover bread

Type: No Onion No Garlic Serving: serves 2-3 Cooking Time: 15-20 mins


  • Leftover Bread slices-4-5
  • oil  1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • Dried red pepper   1, broken into two
  • Curry leaves/kadi patta   1 sprig
  • Chilli powder-1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric/Haldi  1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves, chopped green chillies and lemon juice for garnishing


  • Crumble bread slices and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, red pepper and curry leaves.

  • Add chilli powder, turmeric and salt.

  • Mix all thoroughly under low flame. Add crumbled bread slices and turn around till well mixed.

  • Serve garinished with coriander leaves chopped green chillies and lemon juice .
