Aloo Dahiwale (Vrat)

  • Potatoes, boiled and peeled 500 g
  • Ginger, finely sliced 1 tbsp
  • Zeera (cumin seeds) 1 tsp
  • Dhania powder (coriander) 2 tsp
  • Sendha namak (rock salt) 2 tsp
  • Chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • Dahi 1/2 cup (100 gms)
  • Green chillies, slit 3-4
  • Ghee (Clarified butter) 2 tbsp
  • Hara dhania (Coriander leaves), chopped 1 tbsp


  • Break the potatoes by pressing them in your palm and keep aside.
  • Heat the ghee, and add the zeera. When it splutters add the ginger and saute till slightly fried.

  • Lower the heat, and add the dahi a little at a time, stirring vigorously.

  • Add the dhania, salt, and chilli powder. Mix well and add the potatoes and green chillies and turn around over high heat, till they look slightly fried.

  • Add about 2 cups water, and bring the mixture to a boil, and then simmer uncovered for about 15 minutes.

  • Serve hot, garnished with the hara dhania.
