Saade Chawal

Plain boiled rice

Type: Rice Varieties Serving: 4 Cooking Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1-cup (180 g) basmati (long grained rice)
  • Water
 

Preparation

  • Pick the rice to rid it of any stones or grit and wash well till the water runs clear.
  • Soak the rice for at least 1 hour.

  • Drain the water and place the rice in a heavy bottomed pan along with 1 ½ cups of water and bring to a boil.

  • When it comes to a boil, cover, and let it simmer over low heat, till cooked through, and the water is absorbed. Takes about 10 minutes.
