A rice pullao made with green peas |

Ingredients

2 cups (360 g) basmati (long grain rice), washed and soaked for an hour atleast

2 tbsp (30 g ) ghee (clarified butter)

1 tbsp jeera (cumin seeds )

1 tbsp shredded ginger
-
2 cups shelled (1 kg unpeeled) green peas

2 tbsp powdered dhania (coriander seeds )

1 tsp Garam Masala I

1 tbsp salt
-
1 tsp haldi (turmeric)

Preparation

In a heavy based pan, heat the ghee and add the jeera and the ginger.
When the ginger becomes a little brown, add the peas, dhania, garam masala, salt and haldi, and stir-fry till well mixed.
Add 4 cups water, and bring to a boil uncovered, then lower the heat and cover. The rice should be done in 10 mins. Serve hot.
