Meethi Roti (Rich sweetened flat bread)

Ingredients

  • Atta (whole wheat flour) 1 ½ cups
  • Ghee ¼ cup (60 g), melted and cooled
  • Sugar ½ cup (120 g)
  • Milk ½ cup (120 g) approx.
  • Baking soda (Meetha soda ) 1/8 tsp
  • Salt ½ tsp
  • Ghee for pan frying the rotis
 

Preparation

  • Dissolve the sugar in half the milk over low heat and cool.
  • Mix the soda and salt into the atta. Rub the ghee into the atta, and knead into firm dough with the milk solution, adding more milk if required.

  • Press into ¼” thick rounds, prick and cook over low heat, smearing ghee over and around the roti.
