Sesame Cookies

A tea time treat

  • Oven Temp: 375 F-180 C
  • Butter or Ghee cup (60 g)
  • White sesame seeds (Safed til), roasted cup
  • Sugar cup (120 g)
  • Milk cup, mixed with
  • Vinegar 1 tsp
  • Whole wheat flour (Atta) 1 cup
  • Baking powder tsp
  • Salt tsp
  • Jam or garnishes of choice to decorate (optional)


  • Heat the 1tsp butter and the til and saute till a light brown. Keep aside.
  • Mix the butter, sugar and milk mixture. Add 1 tbsp of the browned til.

  • Mix the flour, baking powder and salt together. Add this to the butter mixture and mix well.

  • Shape dough into rounds or shapes of your choice. Coat with sesame seeds and place on an ungreased baking tray at least 1 apart.

  • Press with the base of a glass or any flat tool.

  • Bake in a pre-heated oven for about 15 minutes.

  • If garnishing, do so while still warm.

  • Serve or cool and store in an airtight jar.
