Rava Idli

Instant idlis made with semolina

Type: Semolina (Soojee) Serving: 6-8 pieces

Ingredients

  • Semolina (Rava/Soojee) ¾ cup (90 g)
  • Yogurt (dahi), sour 1 cup (200 g)
  • Salt 1 tsp or to taste
  • Oil 1 tbsp (15 g)
  • Baking soda ¾ tsp
  • Curry leaves (kadhi patta) 6-7 ]
  • Mustard (sarson) seeds ½ tsp ] for seasoning
  • Oil 1 tbsp (15 g) ]
 

Preparation

  • Heat the oil and add the curry leaves and mustard seeds. Keep aside.
  • Mix the semolina and yogurt to a smooth batter and add salt and oil. Mix the mustard seasoning into the batter and keep aside in a warm place for about an hour.

  • Put the idli maker over heat with water in it.

  • As soon as the idli maker is ready add the baking soda to the batter, mix and spoon some batter into each mould. Steam for 15-20 minutes and serve hot.
