Prawns Kadi Patta

  • Prawns, shelled and deveined 250 g
  • 1tbsp lemon juice and 1 tsp salt to marinate the prawns
  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • Mustard leaves (Sarson) 1 tsp
  • Ginger, shredded thinly 1 tbsp
  • Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta) ¼ cup
  • Green chillies, slit 2-3
  • Tomato, grated ½ cup (approx. 125 g)
  • Salt to taste or 1 tsp
  • Chilli powder ½ tsp
  • Coriander (Dhania ) powder 2 tsp
  • Coconut milk 1 cup
  • Coriander leaves (hara dhania ) for garnish


  • Marinate the prawns in the lemon juice and salt for 10 minutes and wash well. Leave to drain in a colander.
  • Heat the oil and add the mustard seeds. When they splutter, add the ginger and sauté till slightly colored.

  • Add the curry leaves and green chillies. Turn around 3-4 times and add the tomato.

  • Add the salt, chilli powder and coriander powder and stir fry till fat separates.

  • Add the prawns and stir fry till the prawns turn pink and coil up.

  • Add the coconut milk and ½ cup water and simmer for 2 minutes till well blended.

  • Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves.
