Mutton Stew

Ingredients

  • Mutton  pieces washed and wiped 500 gm
  • Onions, coarsely chopped   1 cup
  • Butter or oil 2 tbsp
  • Maida  (refined flour) ¼ cup
  • Salt 2 tsp
  • Powdered black pepper ¼ tsp
  • Water 4 cups
  • Carrots thickly sliced ¼ cup
  • Potatoes diced ¾ cup
  • French beans cut into 2-3 pieces each ¼ cup
  • Jaiphal (nutmeg), grated 1/8 tsp
 

Preparation

  • Heat butter or oil and add onions and stir fry till soft.
  • Increase the heat to high and add meat. Stir fry till opaque.

  • Lower heat, add flour and keep stirring till pieces are coated. Add water, bring to a boil, then simmer till meat is half done.

  • Add beans, potatoes, carrots, salt, pepper and nutmeg. Continue to simmer till meat is tender.
