Tomato Cups

Tomatoes stuffed with paneer/Indian cottage cheese

Type: Low Caloried Serving: 8 pieces Cooking Time: 30 minutes


  • Tomatoes, large, firm and equal sized 4 ( ˝  kg)
  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • Zeera (Cumin seeds) 1 tsp
  • Spring Onion, chopped fine ˝ cup
  • Basil leaves, chopped fine 1 tsp
  • Paneer/Indian Cottage Cheese), cubed small   1 ˝ cups (200 g)
  • Hara Dhania, chopped 2 tbsp
  • Pissi kali mirch (Black pepper powder) ˝ tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp or to taste
  • Hung curd ˝  cup
  • Sugar 2 tsp (optional)
  • Hara dhania (Coriander leaves) or any greens to garnish


  • Cut the tomatoes into half horizontally, and scoop out the seeds and flesh to get an empty ‘cup’.
  • Heat the oil and add the zeera. When zeera splutters, add the onion and celery and turn around over high heat a few times. Add the paneer and saute till well mixed. Leave to cool.

  • When cool, mix in the dhania, kali mirch, salt, curd and sugar.

  • Fill the tomato cups with this mixture, garnish with dhania, chill and serve.
